 Mandala
In Newar usage, a mandala is a magic diagram (Jorgensen 1989) . In Sanskrit usage, a mandala simply denotes the quality of being round as expressed in everything from leprosy spots to the ring of neighbor-states surrounding a kingdom. In design, a mandala is an arrangement of deities conceived of in set and laid out along the axis of the cardinal points around a center. It has long been recognized that Nepalšs landscape is a religious geography organized mandalically.
